Being a photographer is a mixture of hard work and adventure, and when things don't go according to plan, that's when the laughter comes in. I've been in the photography business for a while, and I can tell you, some of my most memorable moments have been the ones that were just a little bit... imperfect. So, sit back, relax, and let me share with you one of my most hilarious struggles as a photographer.

I was booked for a photo shoot in a park for what I thought was just a regular family session. Little did I know, it was actually a surprise engagement proposal. It was the female who booked me as this was the second time, she had booked me. Would you believe that she was booking me for her own surprise engagement but didn’t know it was anything more than a family get together.

So, I got to the park ahead of everyone and walked around taking snaps to work out the lighting, and I noticed some balloons in the distance and couldn't resist snapping some images (they did look like they were there for at least a day). The balloons had ‘will you marry me’ written on them.

I have now returned to the waiting spot, and the crowd arrived, the lady had come over to me as I was looking through the images, and she looked over and saw the screen, to my horror, she said, “Oh, this is why I am here.”! I realised I had just ruined the surprise proposal! The look of shock on her face when I blurted out the question was priceless, almost as priceless as how I feel I looked. I immediately tried to backtrack and play it cool, but it was too late, the surprise was ruined.

Despite my blunder, she played such an amazing part and didn’t mention it at all to anyone else. The proposal went ahead, and thankfully, she said yes! I managed to capture some beautiful shots of the happy couple. Let's hope they book me for the wedding.. *wink wink* Let's hope they read this.

In conclusion, being a photographer can be a wild ride filled with laughs, struggles, and a whole lot of imperfection. And in this case, my imperfection ended up being a memorable moment for all who now know the secret of my ruining the surprise. So, the next time you're feeling discouraged, just remember, even the best photographers have their share of funny struggles. Embrace the imperfections and have a good laugh. After all, that's what life is all about.
